Founder and president of Ponderosa Films, Carter Boehm, is an experienced film executive producer whose career journey stretches back over five decades. Throughout his career, he has overseen the successful production of multiple films. In addition, Carter Boehm owns Yellowstone Film Ranch studios, which served as the film location of “Rust.”

Montana’s Yellowstone Film Ranch served as the new filming location of “Rust,” whose production was suspended in 2021 after Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while they were on set. The film production was set to continue in a new location outside New Mexico with a church that resembled the one where Ms. Hutchins died. According to director Joel Souza, the crew participating in the continuation of production at Yellowstone Film Ranch were keen on honoring Ms. Hutchins’ legacy.

Director Joel Souza, who was also shot and injured during the incident, expressed gratitude for the invitation to film at Yellowstone Film Ranch studios together with experienced and accomplished partners. Tentative film production months were set for March and April 2023. One of the major advantages of the church’s resemblance with the previous filming location in New Mexico ensured movie scenes remained consistent. Alec Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of Halyna Hutchins in 2021. However, in early 2023, the Santa Fe County D.A. dropped the charges of gun enhancement, meaning Mr. Baldwin could avoid serving a prison sentence if convicted. A gun enhancement charge attracts a minimum of five years in jail.
