“Rust” Resumes Filming in Montana

broken image

As president of Ponderosa Film, Carter Boehm guides a Montana enterprise that has developed the Yellowstone Film Ranch as a sought-after locale for historically accurate Western movie-making. In early 2023, it was announced that the property, which is co-owned by Carter Boehm, would be used for completing "Rust," a movie that ceased production when Alec Baldwin unintentionally and fatally shot a crew member with a prop gun while on set in New Mexico in late 2021.

On April 21, ABC News reported that charges of involuntary manslaughter against Alec Baldwin stemming from the shooting were dismissed. Charges against the film's armorer were also dropped, though the case is not closed. Special prosecutors have been appointed, describing their investigation as "active and ongoing."

Amid the investigation has been a green-lighting of a resumption of filming with the principal cast, including lead actor Alec Baldwin, under the original producers. Finishing the movie as cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who died in the tragic incident, intended, reflects the wishes of her family to see her artistic vision completed.
